"pulsing orange, skinny youth" is a coming of age movie that centers on friends learning empathy.
On the outside Elijah is a stoic redneck without a future; on the inside, he sees the good in his friend and won't allow tragedy to break his spirit. In front of his adoptive father, Danny falls under the pressures of being an ambitious student; alone, he faces the stigma of casual racism and rebels with his deadbeat best-friend.
Once Elijah is evicted from his home, he must find refuge in his best-friend’s house during a hurricane. Contained by rattling walls and elevated by the howling winds of the hurricane, the boys try to escape with the magic of childhood but instead confront hidden truths. Although both are envious of the other, through this intimate experience they learn of each other's hardships. The film is set in a desolate island in the Southern part of the United States.
"pulsing orange, skinny youth" has screened at the New York Lift-Off Film Festival and Visions 10 Film Festival & Conference where it took home the highest award for filmmaking known as the "VISIONARY AWARD".
